Puerto Vallarta fishing report may 2018 marlin. The water is continuing to heat up along with the marlin fishing. This incredible month of may fishing in Puerto Vallarta has seen some marlin, tuna, mahi-mahi and yellowtail. This trend should hold for the next couple of months. June is right around the corner. The June fishing is always good as around the middle of the month the light rains start in the evenings. This brings all kind of pelagic fish into the bay following the bait food chain.
The sardines and big Bonita are already here and that is one of the best indicators fishermen have to gauge the up coming fishing season. In one of the last fishing reports for Puerto Vallarta fishing I mentioned how the bait movement influenced where and how the big sailfish, tuna and marlin feed. If the bait is there
we all have a good chance a that trophy fish or good eating fish we are looking to catch on our fishing charter. The rains we have in the evenings make the water clearer and most of the days we can find a water line where the clear and off color water meet. This means the bait will be there and so will the fish. The different water temp. and the big change in the water color will hold good size fish especially during the large tide changes we have this time of the year.
One of the best methods to fish the water lines is the slow troll bait all along the line. The big fish will be swimming up and down this area and with live bait placed in just the right spots it’s a can’t miss fishing method. There will be sailfish, marlin, tuna, and huge mahi-mahi mixed in the water line that can run for miles and miles depending on the water flow from the 6 major rivers that flow into the Puerto Vallarta bay. These water lines can go out even farther into the pacific ocean where the large fish pray. The bay fishing in May though June is unbelievable but the offshore fishing is the way to go if you are looking for the huge trophy fish like big cow tuna, huge marlin and sailfish. This next month in June we have an international tournament is San Blas, which is close to Puerto Vallarta ad brings in many fishermen from all over the world.
The offshore fishing is going to be outstanding this June as the water heats up so does the big game fishing.
