Happy new year and sea and greeting from Puerto Vallarta where the fish are always biting. This last Christmas and December saw some incredible action. We had rod bendings with sailfish, marlin, mahi-mahi and, much other pelagic fish. This was done mostly in the warmer waters hanging around longer than normal. The water temperatures are still in the high 70’s. Good news for all anglers venturing out for a fun day here in Mexico. Puerto Vallarta has been on fire to put it lightly. This coming January we are expecting much of the same weather 70 degrees to so and some fabulous fishing inshore and offshore. Seem like the lady anglers we have been taking out are kicking butt and taking names. Take a look at some of these January catches.
What can folks expect to catch this January? With the water temperature abnormally high that we are having and the overabundance of bait inside the bay and offshore we are predicting the same as December. Normally when the water changes we have species of fish that leave and look for warmer water or different baits but this year they have stayed. Seems like when one species of fish leave another comes along and keeps the fishing interesting here in Puerto Vallarta Mexico.
These warm water temps have been producing sailfish out by the islands and offshore in good numbers. Several of our best Capts. Have been catching double and even triple hookups offshore. The marlin bite has been steady. The two best spots are the Banco and Corebetena. The same as the years past. There are the few marlins caught in the bay and along the north shore from time to time. The Mahi-mahi action has been off the charts. We had one-day last week where the clients had 20 dorados in one day and some marlin action. Most of the trips this last month of the year were offshore as the bite was so good. I’m sure we will be having much of the same this coming month.
The inshore action lit up the bay with the arrival of the humpback whales and all kinds of good-eating fish. What’s not to like about nonstop rod-bending action all day along with catching some fantastic eating fish to take back to the condo. The Spanish mackerel, California Bonita, snapper, and some Mahi-mahi have kept our fishing anglers busy this January. With the arrival of the new year 2022, we have some new trips to talk about.
We have been getting many requests for fishing and whale watching we decided to offer a fishing/whale watching combo trip. This is a 6 hr trip with grantee success on whales and fish. The whales are here every year from Alaska here from December to March and will have this special trip to offer everyone coming down to beautiful Puerto Vallarta where the friendliest people in the world live. Puerto Vallarta fishing report October
Seems like every year when folks up north in the United States are putting away their fishing gear as cold weather approaches, we are just getting started here in Puerto Vallarta. In October we will have several fishing changes happening this month. To start with we have incredible fishing. If you have a certain fish on your bucket list, then fall fishing in Puerto Vallarta is where you need to be. Let’s take a look at just a few of the fishing changes that will be taking place this month.
The one change everyone loves to hear is the weather. Yes, the weather changes from hot to just almost perfect. This slight temperature dip triggers some of the most unforgettable fishing we offer each year. When we down here in beautiful Mexico see the weather getting cold up in the states we know it wants to be long until our perfect fall weather kicks into high gear. This morning it was around 74 deg. The other big factor that happens in October is the rain stops. It’s like we have a light switch that we turn off in the middle of October. The rain will be missed until next June when the rainy season starts again. Until then, it’s pure fishing. If you are looking for a big marlin we have here in the Fall. Want to catch the fastest fish in the world? We have them here in Puerto Vallarta. The sailfish is the fastest fish hitting speeds of 75 miles an hour. The fishing season is about to change here in Puerto Vallarta to great to I can’t believe it. Besides the sailfish and huge marlin, we also have Dorados, wahoo, tunas, and fantastic snapper fishing. These pelagic fish loves that water temperature being between 72 to 80 deg. and guess what? That’s what the water temperatures will be all Fall long. Looking for a certain or have questions about fishing in Puerto Vallarta? Please take a look at our questions and answer page. Full info about all the different fish we catch all the way to questions about prices, seasickness, and the different boats we offer. I also offer our toll-free number from the United States and Canada. 800 430 6048. This is where you can get your questions answered in just a few min from one of our top Captains with years of experience. Try it out.
When we start seeing these perfect water temperatures, beautiful blue water, plenty of bait, and sunny days you know the fall fishing has arrived.
Most of these offshore trips will be eight hours plus. Be sure and ask via email at vallartafishing@hotmail.com or our toll-free number to see what we have been catching and where we have been finding these huge and good-eating fish. One of the really big advantages we have over most fishing companies is that we fish every day. We have several boats and are always on the water. When you fish every day you get a good feel for where the fish are biting and what baits are working the best.
If you are a hard-core fisherman or a family going out for fun we have a boat for you. We do many offshore fishing trips each week, but have more families coming out with us as well. Just let us know what your interests are and I’ll customize a special fishing trip for and family or buddies.
During the fall months, we have many repeat clients so plan on booking early to secure the fishing adventure of your dreams here in Puerto Vallarta.

Puerto Vallarta
Being the largest natural bay (bahia) in Mexico, it’s no wonder it is home to the Humpback Whales who come to Vallarta every year to have their young. Giant Manta rays, Sea Turtles and Dolphins can be found year round. Nuevo Vallarta is also home to some of the best year around Big Game Fishing in the world! Coming soon we will have the November Sailfish and marlin Championships. The sport fishing has been super fantastic this year, we have seem more sailfish, marlin and mahi-mahi than any year before. All of our deep sea fishing Puerto Vallarta trips have been hot with lots of fish boated everyday. The great weather we have been having has really heated up the deep sea fishing and we have had great sailing cruise here in Puerto Vallarta Mexico.. The sunset cruises here in Vallarta have been offering spectacular sunsets that are some of the best of the year.
