Puerto Vallarta fishing report for tournaments
Puerto Vallarta fishing report this week has some new news coming up about what we have been catching. And some even more exciting news about some of the up coming fishing tournaments here in Puerto Vallarta and the surrounding areas. The really big question we get all the time is what do we do differently in a fishing tournament versus a regular fishig day of 8 hrs. I’ve heard this before and after the tournaments. The main factor is we fish for marlin, sailfish, tuna and dorados also know as mahi mahi but really big ones as with most fishing tournaments the biggest fish wins or the fishing boat that catches the most fish.

Puerto Vallarta fishing report April 2018
Puerto Vallarta fishing report April 2018 starts off with some incredible news. All fishing grounds are closed until farther notice. April’s fools just kidding the fishing is great and the marlin action is off the charts. The offshore fishing action could not be better. We fished on the north side of Puerto Vallarta including the Punta Mita fishing grounds and we were seeing sailfish and marlin in all the right spots. These pelagic fish were biting on black bart lures trolled around 7 to 8 knots. The very best bite was on live pitch baits. We are sight vesting these giant fish while trolling out best lure along with some hot teasers. If we can’t raise them with the teasers we are throwing the pitch baits when we see them finning. I cast over a hundred times yesterday so be sure and bring your power bars or what ever you use for that extra energy.

Puerto Vallarta Fishing Spring break 2018
Puerto Vallarta fishing spring fishing has started off with a blast. The fish are hanging around and I mean big fish like marlin. The stripped marlin having been feeding all over the offshore fishing spots just to the north of us. Some days we have had 10 to 15 hook ups. This is counting the sailfish, marlin, and dorados that the fleet has been catching. The best trip are 8 to 10 hrs outside of the bay. The best method has been pitch baits and skipping baits. Last week we had 4 marlin on at the same time. What a show and fun for everyone onboard. Sure wish I would have had the gopro turned on for that one.

Puerto Vallarta fishing report March
Puerto Vallarta fishing report March. This means spring is just around the corner. The water temp is heating up and so will the fishing here in Puerto Vallarta. IN the last week it was up almost 6 deg, this means the sardines will be showing up in huge schools. The water temperature is holding around 78 deg. The sailfish, marlin, and mahi-mahi follow them each year. This means we will be loading up on big fish. Last week the sailfish action and marlin action was off the charts. Most of the amazing fish are being caught on the troll. One of the best areas the fish have been biting is just north of Puerto Vallarta around Punta Mita. The pitch baits are working well and these pelagic fish come to the surface to feed during the right times of the day between the big tide changes. These are the very best time to be on the water fishing. Check tides before leaving or call me for the best times here in Puerto Vallarta Mexico. Remember some of the best water temps for sailfish and marlin is in the high 70’s. Check with us and I will look at the charts of the surface temp and let everyone know where the fish will be biting.

Puerto Vallarta fishing February
Puerto Vallarta fishing February has started off with marlin, sailfish, and some Mahi-mahi action. The water has cooled down a bit but is still sitting around 75 to 80 deg. In most places inshore and offshore. The offshore bite has been great around 5 to 7 miles offshore. The best spots have been where we are finding the right thermoclines along with the blue water the pelagic game fish such as marlin, sailfish, and mahi-mahi enjoy feeding in. You may ask how do I find these spots to fish in or make sure at least your charter Captain in Puerto Vallarta will know this information. There are several ways to obtain this information. We gather information from all of our boats daily, our competitors, and use one of the online services that we pay a yearly fee to receive this info. We gather the chlorophyll, altimetry, currents, and surface temperature. With this info along with direct contact with all our charter Captains here in Puerto Vallarta, we have a good idea where we can catch that next trophy for our clients. It’s no wonder we bring in more trophy fish than the other charter boats each year. If you are looking for a big marlin, sailfish, or mahi-mahi our company Puerto Vallarta fishing charters can’t be beaten for the price and service we offer. Some of the best baits right now are the live goggle-eye on the slow troll. The mullet sewn up with a hot lure on top is also producing several fish. The black Bart lures are tearing the water up the last couple of weeks along with Joe Yee, marlin magic, and Pakula lumo. These are the year in and year out the best offshore lures for fishing the Mexican waters here in Puerto Vallarta.

January Puerto Vallarta fishing report
The Puerto Vallarta fishing has been off the charts. Inside the bay and offshore. The bite has been great for the 6 hrs. trips for families and the guys that want to go offshore hard core fishing here in Mexico. The best fishing in the bay has been for the California bonitas, Spanish mackerel, snapper, yellowtail and a few Mahi- Mahi. We had also had the pleasure of having the humpback whales along for all the trips. The kids love seeing the whales, but then we all do. If you live in Houston Texas, Phoenix, Arizona, or one of the other great places in the United States you don’t get to see the huge mammals every day. What a show they can put on. This is a big plus when fishng here in Puerto Vallarta.

December fishing in Puerto Vallarta 2017
The fishing In Puerto Vallarta is at it’s best. The weather, temperature, and fishing bite are almost perfect. I always like to start with the Puerto Vallarta bay fishing as this time of the year we always have a lot of families that like short trips as many people have young kids. If the kids are less than 10 years old we recommend 6 hrs. or less for bay trips. Of course, some kids can fish all day depending on the ages. Even though there are a lot of huge mantas, sea turtles, dolphins, and humpback whales to see along the way out and back. The kids love it but then again who doesn’t ??
The bay fishing trips are resulting in snapper, Spanish mackerel, Bonita, mahi-mahi, and even a couple of sailfish on the last couple of trips. The seas have been flat making for a smooth ride for all. The best bet is to book your trip along with the tides to give you a better chance of hook-ups. The is still plenty of bait in the Bay so be sure you have live bait to take on all trips.
