Happy new year and sea and greeting from Puerto Vallarta where the fish are always biting. This last Christmas and December saw some incredible action. We had rod bendings with sailfish, marlin, mahi-mahi and, much other pelagic fish. This was done mostly in the warmer waters hanging around longer than normal. The water temperatures are still in the high 70’s. Good news for all anglers venturing out for a fun day here in Mexico. Puerto Vallarta has been on fire to put it lightly. This coming January we are expecting much of the same weather 70 degrees to so and some fabulous fishing inshore and offshore. Seem like the lady anglers we have been taking out are kicking butt and taking names. Take a look at some of these January catches.
What can folks expect to catch this January? With the water temperature abnormally high that we are having and the overabundance of bait inside the bay and offshore we are predicting the same as December. Normally when the water changes we have species of fish that leave and look for warmer water or different baits but this year they have stayed. Seems like when one species of fish leave another comes along and keeps the fishing interesting here in Puerto Vallarta Mexico.
These warm water temps have been producing sailfish out by the islands and offshore in good numbers. Several of our best Capts. Have been catching double and even triple hookups offshore. The marlin bite has been steady. The two best spots are the Banco and Corebetena. The same as the years past. There are the few marlins caught in the bay and along the north shore from time to time. The Mahi-mahi action has been off the charts. We had one-day last week where the clients had 20 dorados in one day and some marlin action. Most of the trips this last month of the year were offshore as the bite was so good. I’m sure we will be having much of the same this coming month.
The inshore action lit up the bay with the arrival of the humpback whales and all kinds of good-eating fish. What’s not to like about nonstop rod-bending action all day along with catching some fantastic eating fish to take back to the condo. The Spanish mackerel, California Bonita, snapper, and some Mahi-mahi have kept our fishing anglers busy this January. With the arrival of the new year 2022, we have some new trips to talk about.
We have been getting many requests for fishing and whale watching we decided to offer a fishing/whale watching combo trip. This is a 6 hr trip with grantee success on whales and fish. The whales are here every year from Alaska here from December to March and will have this special trip to offer everyone coming down to beautiful Puerto Vallarta where the friendliest people in the world live. Please contact us for more info or to make a reservation
Happy New Year and Merry Fishmas from Puerto Vallarta

The Puerto Vallarta rainy season has already started with light rains in the evenings almost every day. Occasionally we’ll have light rains in the morning, but usually, they clear up around 7 or 8 in the morning. Then we have beautiful skies for fishing either inshore or offshore. These rains that we have in the evenings have a couple of effects that really heat up the fishing here in Puerto Vallarta for the month of July. First and foremost, it brings in all kinds of bait closer which in turn brings in some of the bigger fish following the mullet, sardines, and skipjack tunas. This is great because we’ll be doing a lot of four and six-hour trips over the holidays like July 4th. It’s always a big celebration here in beautiful Puerto Vallarta for July 4th even though it’s traditionally not celebrated in Mexico. See our special rates for the month of July. There are several different ways that we fish for the big marlin, tuna, and mahi-mahi. We use pitch baits, kites, lures, and skip baits to bring these fish up in our spreads. We’ll be using some of our favorite places that we see year in and year out that produce these huge pelagic fish. El Morro is the closest of the places we like to fish it can be done in about 8 hours. One of the world’s most famous places the Corbetena and it produces some of the biggest fish of the year here. El Banco is another favorite where we catch some of the winning fish for the tournaments. Happens year after year. The huge pelagic fish live and feed there. The deep-sea fishing trip is 50 miles out and we need a 12 to 14-hour trip to get there and fish. This underground knoll is famous as it located in thousands of feet of water, then comes up to a low point of 50 ft. Fishing here is almost for sure you were going to come home with a trophy fish. The fishing spot just happens to be one of our favorite places the fish with 5 to 10 lbs. baits for these huge Marlin. Not uncommon to catch the huge Yellowfin their schooling as well. So this July if you’re looking for a fun time and a great place to fish for the day we got you covered inshore of offshore fishing.

January Puerto Vallarta fishing report
The Puerto Vallarta fishing has been off the charts. Inside the bay and offshore. The bite has been great for the 6 hrs. trips for families and the guys that want to go offshore hard core fishing here in Mexico. The best fishing in the bay has been for the California bonitas, Spanish mackerel, snapper, yellowtail and a few Mahi- Mahi. We had also had the pleasure of having the humpback whales along for all the trips. The kids love seeing the whales, but then we all do. If you live in Houston Texas, Phoenix, Arizona, or one of the other great places in the United States you don’t get to see the huge mammals every day. What a show they can put on. This is a big plus when fishng here in Puerto Vallarta.
